Volleyball rebounds with a win over Eastern Oregon

Following their first conference loss, the Southern Oregon Volleyball team got back to winning ways with a 3-1 set win over Eastern Oregon this Saturday.

The win leaves the Raiders at the top of the standings with a 10-1 conference record and 13-3 overall.

Eastern Oregon is 6-5 in conference play and 10-7 overall.

The Mountaineers proved difficult opponents to overcome as Southern Oregon was only just able to clinch the first set 25-23.

The Raiders then dropped the second set to Eastern Oregon falling 19-25 before finally getting themselves together.

Southern Oregon came out the next two sets far more confident as they were able to put away their opponents 25-18 and 25-19 to win the game by three sets to one.

Eastern Oregon has only been able to claim one set from the Raiders both times the teams have met this year.

The Raiders were paced by both Sarah Holgen and Leanne Stennett who each had 15 kills.

Libero Becky Johnstone led the team with 19 digs, while Stennett recorded 16 and Holgen 13.

Setter Lindsey Stone recorded a match high of 51 assists for the night while also contributing four blocks.

Eastern Oregon was paced by Jessica Lea’s 16 kills, 24 assists and five digs with several other teammates reaching double digits as well.
