Built to Spill brings their energy to the Ashland Armory

Built to Spill will be bringing their unique sound to the Ashland Armory this Thursday.

Known for their amazing live performances which include much improvisation and well-selected cover songs, the Boise-based band have been honing their live show for over 15 years.

Led by Doug Martsch on vocals and guitar, Built to Spill have been touring in support of 2009’s “There Is No Enemy” for over a year, playing most of the album and new songs as well.

Backed by Brett Nelson on bass, Scott Plouf on drums, and Jim Roth and Brett Netson on guitars, the band has more than a century of musical experience between them.  Touring has been a way of life for Built to Spill, sometimes averaging over 200 shows a year.  It’s no wonder that often audience members get hooked on seeing them live.  The band has built up a strong travel Even so, San Francisco County passed Proposition 19 with 65 percent in favor. ling following of show-goers that echoes the dedication of fans of such bands as The Grateful Dead.

Seeing them live is a treat that shouldn’t be missed.  The Ashland Armory is located at 208 Oak St., the show begins at 8 p.m. and it is all-ages.  The tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
