65 students going to Salem higher education rally, late sign up still possible

On April 25 the Associated Students of Southern Oregon University is going to Salem along with the Oregon Student Association to lobby for more funding from the state to support public universities and community colleges around Oregon.

There are currently 65 students from SOU who’ve said they’ll attend the rally, in addition to over 700 students from other universities and community colleges around Oregon.

“The intention of the rally is to open communication between Oregonian college students and the state government to make higher education more affordable and accessible for all Oregonians,” said Sarah Westover, the OSA organizer at SOU and one of the coordinators of the event.

Students will be meeting outside the Stevenson Union at 7 a.m. April 25, where they will leave for Salem. The organizers plan on being back around 7 or 8 p.m. that evening. To learn more or sign up, visit ASSOU’s website.
