Femest kick off this week!

This Monday at Southern Oregon University, the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) will be putting on an all day event celebrating and tackling issues on all things woman and feminist.

The event will be called “Femfest,” and is set to discuss issues from feminist philosophy and poetry readings to eco feminism.

In a school wide email, the WRC invited all students and faculty to the event, saying, “Fem Fest is a celebration and exploration of all things feminist, related through a series of “Ted Talk” style lectures from students, staff and faculty, as well as community members”

FemFest is will from 10 am to 6:30 pm. Visitors are encouraged to come and go as they please. The event itself it free, although a five dollar donation for the key note speaker Melissa McEwan, a feminist blogger and free-lance writer who blogs about politics and social justice.

There will also be crafting sessions from 10:00-5 at Femfest, with crafting supplies ready for visitors to express themselves.
