Raiders Succeed at Chico State Twilight

CHICO – Holly Haga highlighted the Southern Oregon University track and field team’s performance finishing first in discus with a throw of 150-11 becoming an automatic NAIA Championship qualifier Saturday at the Chico State Distance Carnival/Twilight.

Amelia Maguin also hit automatic qualifier marks in the 100-meter hurdles (14.90) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.65).

Kevin Jorgensen was another NAIA Championship qualifier after finishing first in his 800-meter race with time of 1:52.14. Jorgensen also qualified in the 1500-meter (3:52.17) along with Jared Hixon who finished third in the 1500-meter running 3:51.58.

Stephanie Techler finished third in pole vault with an NAIA ‘A’ mark of 11-11.75, improving on her automatically qualifying march set back in March.

SOU finished fourth in both the women’s 4×100-meter relay (14.19) and the women’s 4×400-meter relay (4:01.70).

Cameron Bremner won the men’s 200-meter dash (21.98) along with helping Kermit Knight, Robert Benamati, and Jonz Olander finish third in the 4×100-meter relay with an NAIA “B” mark of 41.99.

Southern Oregon will compete again this weekend as they travel to Eugene for the Oregon Relays on April 19.
