Growling on the Outside and Inside

Growler guys beer menuGrowler; a pitcher, pail, or other container brought by a customer for beer. With that in mind, Ashland welcomes it’s newest member to the brewery community; Growler Guys and Stoneridge Coffee. From craft beer to coffee this new establishment makes it way into downtown as the “community beverage center”, says manager Emily Jablonski.

Growler Guys company originally started about three and a half years ago in Bend, Oregon from a father and son duo, Kent and Kizer Couch. They collaborated with the goal of selling “fresh craft beer on tap for beer growlers”. Ashland is the eleventh Growler Guys location so far, and it’s rumored there are eleven more in the works. They are currently in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho expanding their presence throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The owner of the new location is local man, Butch Price, and he is the reason why this once abandoned gas station is now a different kind of “fill station”. Price specializes in doing construction for gas stations, car washes, and convenience stores which explains the unique transformation from Texaco to Growler Guys.

Jablonski says, “our main goal here is to present the beers as the brewers intended”. Growler Guys takes the time in the finer details with proper glassware, and serving sizes for each individual craft beer. Along with the many brews they offer, they also have a patio out front with fires going for customers, and a “nice, open ambiance” on the inside, says Growler Guys employee.

Patron and SOU student, Laura Wells, says her favorite part about Growler Guys is the atmosphere, “it’s a great place to hang out with friends by the fires outside”. Wells also said she enjoyed getting to try any beer or cider for free.

Ashland’s Growler Guys beer on tap ebbs and flows, but they currently have 46 craft beers, 7 ciders, 13 Kombuchas, and 1 sangria. Jablonski says, “the top sellers are the IPA’s and close behind are the Porters and ciders”. In addition to their beer they also have pizza, and a happy hour Monday thru Friday from 4pm to 6pm which can get customers a dollar off pints. They are also still having their 64oz. growler give-away with purchase of a fill as a part of their grand opening.

Growler guys is the newest one stop shop in Ashland where “all your favorite brews are  under one roof”, says Jablonski. You can check them out at 345 Lithia Way.
