Next in Que: Bloodline

One of the biggest shows to hit Netflix in the past year is their original show “Bloodline”.  Bloodline follows the Rayburn family who owns a hotel in the Florida Keys where they deal with a dark past and even darker future.

Bloodline has one season on Netflix with the second coming on May 27th.  The family consists of policeman/detective John, younger brother Kevin who runs a boat repair shop and often loses his temper, a scandalous sister Meg, and the oldest sibling, Danny. Danny’s return is to celebrate his parents 45th anniversary is also the source of all the families problems. As he digs deep into their past, he constantly harasses the siblings and often blackmails them.  Before you know it, he begins a drug ring that consumes the family and the hotel as he runs cocaine through the old establishment.

The series begins with an eerie narration by John Rayburn: “Sometimes you know something’s coming. You can feel it. In the air. In your gut. And you don’t sleep at night. The voice in your head is telling you that something is going to go terribly wrong and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. That’s how I felt when my brother came home.”

For me, this show has the perfect mix of drama and horror.  Danny’s character is so easy to hate but you also become attached and want to keep giving him second chances…even when you know he will let you down.  The rest of the cast is just as amazing and they all play off of each other extremely well.  Fans of American Horror Story will love this series as it displays darkness and horror in all 13 episodes.  My grade : 9/10
