Tutunov Piano Concert III: Valentine Duo

The department of performing arts brings more breath-taking guest artists to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This Friday, Grammy nominated, Nikita Fitenko and Katerina Zaitseva will perform a four hand piano recital as well as individual solos. The program consists of Brahms, Lizst, Ravel and more.

When thinking about the upcoming concert, Tutunov describes Nikita and Katerina as “a brilliant duo with many critically-acclaimed recordings to their credit.  Their performance at SOU should be extraordinary.  And they are a beautiful couple, so the Valentine’s Day connection is perfect”.

This is the third concert in the four concert Tutunov series. Dr. Alexander Tutunov is the resident artist and director of keyboard studies at SOU. The Tutunov Series is an endeavor to bring world renown artists to our small community. The artists that perform for the series are first class performers and they perform all around the world. “This is the first inaugural season,” said Dr. Tutunov. “[Artists come] sometimes by personal invitation and sometimes they are someone passing through that we are extremely lucky to have.”

Although it is the first series, Dr. Tutunov has planned next year’s series as well as started the 2015 series. In a few words, this new-found tradition is not going anywhere.

The concert will be held Friday, Feb. 15 in the music recital hall at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free for SOU students and general admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased at the Performing Arts Box Office in the Theatre Building or call 541-552-6348 to reserve tickets.
