SOU Rugby Begins New Season in NSCRO Against Gonzaga

After a successful season of friendlies last year, the Southern Oregon University men’s rugby club starts off their season Saturday, October 5 as they look to take on visiting Gonzaga.

Now a member of the National Small College Rugby Organization, the club will look to play against a series of opponents throughout fall term in efforts to make some noise in the playoffs within their first year as a member of the league.

“This is our first year in the NRSCO league and we are really excited to be able to compete in a league again,” says team captain Greg Filmore.

Along with Gonzaga, SOU will also face local rival Oregon Tech, Oregon State and a number of other colleges within the Oregon-Washington area including Puget Sound and Central Oregon Community College.

Saturday’s match is currently scheduled for 12 p.m. at the football practice field on campus but do to scheduling conflicts with other sports the location is subject to change.
