Southern Oregon University’s Women’s Resource Center presents Athena in Velvet: A Spring Celebration of Women and Creativity. This unique evening features intriguing dancers, human statues, and powerful, local female musicians. Performers include: burlesque troupe Speakeasy and the Silhouettes, single artist Tiger Lyn, and musical act LOVEBITE, with renowned guitarists Jeff Pevar and Mitchell Kriemelman of the Vegas Blue Man Group. Proceeds from this event will benefit Vivacious Voices: Empowerment through Education and Expression, the Women’s Resource Center’s creativity program.
Athena in Velvet will take place at Jackson Wellsprings’s Casbah Stage, located at 2253 Highway 99 N, Ashland on Friday May 11th at 7:30pm (doors open at 7:00pm). Tickets for this event are $8 for students with ID and $10 for general admission in advance and may be purchased at the Women’s Resource Center at Southern Oregon University. Tickets are available the night of the event at the door for $12. The Women’s Resource Center is located in the basement of the Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University in room 102.
