The Southern Oregon Volleyball team’s undefeated streak came to a sudden halt this past Friday as the College of Idaho rolled past the Raiders for a three set win.
The loss leaves the Raiders at 9-1 in conference play and 12-3 overall. College of Idaho is now also 9-1 in the conference standings but hold a 12-4 overall record.
The loss is the first that Southern Oregon has suffered in conference play this year as they were simply powerless to stop the Coyotes.
College of Idaho were determined not be on the receiving end of a sweep to Southern Oregon once again as they impressively turned around a deficit to win the first set by a resounding score of 25-13.
The Raiders could do little to resist College of Idaho in the second set as well as they were uncharacteristically dominated in every area of the court losing 25-16.
However in the third set, Southern Oregon seemed to get their feet back as they pushed their opponents looking for a way back into the night.
Unfortunately, the Raiders could do nothing as the College of Idaho managed to scrape by with a 28-26 set win and a dominating three set sweep of the Raiders.
College of Idaho turned in an extremely efficient night led by Sarah Harris’ 13 kills while the attack made just one error.
Southern Oregon was paced by Liz Madden who came off the bench to record eight kills and three blocks for the Raiders.
Megan Bartling came just behind Madden with 6 kills while Lindsey Stone and Natalie Scheller led the Raiders in digs with nine each.
Stone also had 25 assists for Southern Oregon.
College of Idaho and Southern Oregon are now tied for the top spot in the Cascade standings and if the teams remain tied until the end of the season, the tiebreaker will be determined by the number of sets lost during the season.
Southern Oregon and College of Idaho are also tied in that respect, each having lost six sets so far this season.
