This weekend’s game against Azusa Pacific could not be any more important for the Southern Oregon football team.
Besides being the last home game of the season, it is the last chance the Raiders have to prove they do have a winning spirit within them.
Sitting on a 2-5 record this season, Southern Oregon has struggled to keep up with opponents despite coming close a few times.
This weekend would be the perfect chance to simply show that this team is capable of notching a few in the win column.
However, Southern Oregon will have to be wary of their opponents who are going through a losing spell themselves.
Azusa Pacific is currently on a three game losing streak after losing to Western Oregon this past Saturday. The team is 4-3 this season.
Quarterback John Van der Raadt has put up some solid numbers for the Cougars this season despite being on the losing end. The Raiders will need to find a way to contain him if they wish to have any chance of walking away with a respectable scoreline.
Last season, Southern Oregon just managed to clinch a win over Azusa courtesy of Brandon Baldwin’s 278 yards.
This time the Raiders will be hoping that quarterback Paul Sweeney and standout Vance Beach can help lead the Raiders to another win over the Cougars.
