Southern Oregon’s James Johnstone has been named the Red Lion Cascade Conference Runner of the Week.

Johnstone earned the award after an impressive performance in the 3,000 Steeplechase at San Francisco State last Friday.

The senior won the event in a time of 9:11.31. The time was the fastest time ran in the NAIA this year, good enough for an “A” qualifying mark and was also the third fastest time in school history. The school record was set by SOU Hall of Famer Kelly Jensen in 1978 with a time of 8:53.9.
