Second-ranked Southern Oregon posted three pins plus a technical fall victory as the Raiders defeated Pacific 41-3 Saturday night at Bob Riehm Arena.
The win improves the Raiders’ 2011-12 dual record to 6-2 and gives SOU its 18th consecutive victory over Pacific and 47th overall in a series that stretches back 50 years. The Raiders return to action Jan. 21, when they will travel to California for duals against Stanford, Menlo and San Francisco State.
“I liked our aggressiveness,” SOU head coach Mike Ritchey said. “The guys went out and set the pace of the matches, which is part of our philosophy of wrestling an aggressive style and scoring points. Hopefully the fans enjoyed what they saw.”
Top-ranked Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) opened the dual with his school-record 50th career pin, falling Zach Binkerd in 2:19 to clinch the 125-pound match. Miguel Baltazar (Culver, Ore./Culver) followed with a pin of Eric Harder in 1:41 to take the 133.
