Ski and Snowboard lovers have the opportunity to sell or buy items at the Southern Oregon University Ski Swap just around the corner.

The 40th annual ski swap is happening December 6th and 7th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Rogue River Room. If you would like to donate snow gear the drop off dates start December 4th and 5th 9:00AM to 7:00PM.  Twenty percent of the proceeds from  each item goes to the SOU Outdoor Program.

But in order to sell your items you need to register them. You can do that at www.AshlandSkiSwap.com  before you bring them in. The check in price for pre-registered items is $1.00 while check in prices for items registered during drop off is $2.00 per item. If your items are pre-registered you can check on the status of them online to see if they have been sold yet. If you have items that do not sell you need to pick them up December 8th between 10:00AM and 7:00PM. If you don’t pick them up they will be donate to the SOU Outdoor Program.

The Ski Swap is expected to have over 25 hundred items including skis, snowboards, clothing, hockey skates, back country gear, figure skates, hats, goggles, and everything winter. “I bet you that we will have over 500 customers walking around. In years past we have had to count as people were coming just to make sure that we are not over loading the capacity of the room. But between volunteers and people dropping off gear consigners and people actually shopping it’s probably over 1000 people.” Will Volpert, the manager of the Indigo Creek Outfitters said. Indigo Creek Outfitters are running the event.

The ski swap is an annual fundraiser for the SOU Outdoor Program. Willie Long is the coordinator for the Outdoor Program and is working with Indigo Creek Outfitters to plan the ski swap. The SOU ski and snowboard club will be there selling breakfast burritos. The Nordic club who plans ski trips will also be on hand to tell you what they do.

The ski swap is looking for volunteers to help with the event. If you are interested, go to the Rogue River Room. Volunteers will get a chance to shop before the other customers.
