Women’s Basketball Ready To Push For Titles

Despite making it to the Cascade Conference playoffs, the 2011 season marked one of the most erratic seasons for the Raiders women’s basketball team.

Normally a team with a consistent record, Southern Oregon seemed to struggle to start a decent run even though they managed to start the season with a 3-0 record.

However, the Raiders dropped the conference opener before rebounding with a win only to lose once again.

The Raiders bounced between wins and losses all season, with back to back wins being rare with losing streaks being all too frequent.

Players who were solid the season before were no where near their previous form, while others found it difficult to fit in the Raiders system.

It was an unusual sight to see a team previously so confident struggle to find success.

Luckily for the Raiders, they managed to do just enough to clinch a spot in the off-season only for their inconsistent play to be their downfall in a loss to Corban.

For all their struggles, the Raiders still managed to claim a few post-season honors.

Whitney Scott was named First Team All-Conference honors while Jamie Roupp received an Honorable Mention.

The Raiders also had five earn NAIA Scholar Athlete Awards.

With a disappointing season behind them, Southern Oregon is already looking towards 2012, with seven players already set to help the team push towards a better form.
