SOU Soccer Plays College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon

The SOU Men’s and Women’s soccer team took to the field this past weekend in games against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. 

The first pair of men’s games took place on Friday October 11. Freshman Adrian Villegas took care of striking the first blow, with a goal in the 8th minute of the game, his 4th in CCC games, with an assist from Daniel McDevitt.

Another SOU freshman, Sam Walker, would cap off a 2-0 victory for the Raiders with a 13-yard shot to secure the win. In their second outing of the weekend against Eastern Oregon, Walker again scored in the 72nd minute of the game, giving the Raiders a late lead. Sophomore Andrew DePaepe drilled in a put up another goal in the 88th, mirroring the result they had a day earlier.

After these two games the SOU Men’s soccer team now sit with a record of 7-5, 5-2 in CCC games.

The SOU Women’s soccer team suffered a different rate to their male counterparts. Against College of Idaho, junior Michala Denn scored her first goal for Southern Oregon University in the 88th minute, with an equalizer that would send the game into a 2OT and lead the Raiders to a record of 5-3-2 after the affair.

The following day spelled woes, in a losing effort (1-0) to Eastern Oregon, which ended a 14-game unbeaten streak at home. After this weekend the Raiders stand with a 5-4-2 record overall, 2-2-2 in CCC competition.
