Josephine County Measure 17.35 is a proposed continuation of the existing $1.79 tax for every $1,000 a property is appraised. If passed, this tax would support continue funding around the clock Police and Fire response. This includes neighborhood patrols, detectives, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, fire protection, fire prevention, rescue, drug enforcement, gang prevention, dispatch, Citizens Public Safety Academy, street lighting and response to vehicle crashes and emergency medical calls; as well as help maintain current city police and fire response time standards to emergency calls.
The current tax levy is set to expire June 30, 2011. The tax proposed by this measure would extend funding for an additional three years.
